Perhaps even worse, they have taken their eyes off their final destination being too focused or fearful about things happening in the world and are unaware that they are no longer walking in the Spirit according to the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that truly sets men free and restores their souls.

As it says in Jeremiah 6:16 - Thus saith the LORD, “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” But they said, “We will not walk therein.”

I shared all this because this book, The Eighth Beast, will introduce a whole new perspective to many that is going to require their willingness to endure the difficulties of the climb if they want to reach that place where their perspective becomes clear so as to understand why America is going into captivity, and ultimately into perdition, and why God has said, “Come out of her, My people, that you partake not of her sins and receive not of her plagues... for strong is the Lord God who judges her.”

Even if you are not into the study of end time prophecy...read this book!

I am not one who is very well versed in end-time prophecy, and frankly I feel a bit inferior with regard to the study of it. But, with another viewpoint in mind, I have to say that this book spoke to me with regard to the biblical exhortation to walk in the fullness in which Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for us. The foundation of scriptural instruction, to be sanctified, was found throughout this book and I was so refreshed by this. I found the author's effectiveness to convey the power of The Word of God was very evident and his urging toward abiding in Christ was the foundation of this book. I know this was/is a book about America in prophecy, but I gleaned so much more from it than that alone and because of this aspect, I highly recommend this book as a tool to spark conversation about the depths of true faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and exactly what that means with regard to the church today and how it aligns with the Word of God/Jesus. (Chapter 6 about "Grace" is so noteworthy) In regard to the examination prophecy, and in regard to the last chapter of this book, there is much food for thought and frankly gave me some insight I had not considered before with regard to specific passages of Scripture. Very thought-provoking! I plan to read this book a 2nd time, because I feel I may have missed some other insights that I did not catch the first time.

Eye Opening & Informative

I am finding 'The Eighth Beast' (America in Prophecy) to be a book that anyone who is really desiring to know about the things of GOD and what is currently happening in the world and these United States of America in particular to be very insightful. With the help of all the scripture reading included, it is easier for me to read, stay focused and follow. I feel as though I am getting a more complete picture of who GOD is and how HE exercises HIS judgment, and is exercising HIS judgment toward America.

Perhaps being forthcoming might be helpful to that it is certainly a book that requires prayer, openness and perhaps even more than one reading to fully ingest it all.

Book content is good but it is in black and white

The book content is good.

But, beware! This book is not in printed in color! The online preview suggests the book is printed in color. But it is not. The paper version is printed in gray scale. Of particular concern are the diagrams for four projects. The text does not even mention the actual color of the parts. Also, the screenshots of the EV3 brick LCD are almost illegible.

I'm giving the book one star because the Amazon description does not mention that the book is not in color. I find this deceptive.

Good Book but only BLACK AND WHITE, not color as shown on webpage

I purchased this book for my grandson who is ill. When I looked at the sample pages on the website the illustrations were shown in full color. However, when my grandson started reading the book, it was all in black and white.

I rated it 3-stars because the information is good and well presented.

I am very disappointed in Amazon that they would not only mislead potential buyers on what they are going to get, but they also ignored a review from almost a month ago pointing out this misleading webpage.

The Kindle edition is in color

I haven't started reading the book yet, but wanted to let everyone know that the Kindle edition is in color. Perhaps it doesn't appear in color on a Black and White Kindle, but it's in color on my computer and iPad Kindle apps.

A cookbook for fishermen

Secret Recipes of a Canadian Fishing Guide is the most complete cookbook for many fishermen. It has an excellent guide for preparing freshwater fish for cooking that I have not seen in other books on fish cookery or on camping. It has a large section of recipes that cover some of the fish which don't see in other books, such a muskellunge, pike, and pan fish. An excellent buy for fishermen of all levels.

About the Author

Nancy Naternicola earned a BS in physical education teacher education and health at Florida Southern College, and an MS in physical education teacher education from West Virginia University (WVU). She is the fitness and wellness director of the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CPASS). Nancy develops fitness programming and teaches fitness classes for the WVU Lifetime Activities Program. She also oversees and teaches courses in the personal trainer minor and group fitness minor programs and teaches classes in the basic instruction program.

Naternicola manages the WVU Stansbury Fitness Center and supervises personal training and exercise physiology interns. She is a faculty member and master trainer for the American Council on Exercise. She has taught more than 15 types of group fitness, including step, kickboxing, fitness yoga, mat Pilates, sport conditioning, hip-hop, and boot camp.

Naternicola teaches for Fitness Pro Travel in Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Curacao. She chairs the Wellness Task Force and is the CPASS employee wellness coordinator and an American Red Cross instructor. She is a member of the West Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (WVAHPERD).

She enjoys all types of activities and sports and believes a body in motion stays in motion.

Fitness Steps to Success I love this book

Fitness Steps to Success

I love this book! I wish it had been available years ago when i began my own journey to fitness. If it had, I know I would have arrived much sooner to a better state of fitness. As it was, I wandered around in different programs that emphasized one or sometimes two main aspects of fitness and I never arrived at a feeling of completeness. Fitness Steps to Success offers clear concise directions for reaching results.

If you don’t use a trainer, this is a very good alternative! And if you do have a trainer this is like a collection of notes to be used when you are working on your own. This book contains all the foundational pieces that you would be paying a good trainer to teach you. Actually this book is complete enough to be used as a text book in a basic trainer’s instruction program.

For beginners the pictures and descriptions of exercises are excellent and include the essentials of posture and breath. For intermediate fitness fans these exercises include a progressive plan for a well balanced or well rounded approach which includes strength, balance, flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning. Many people tend to focus on only one or two of these areas and come up lacking in complete health and reaching the fuller potentials that fitness has to offer at every level of being. And finally, for those advanced in all of these health arenas it opens up the next stage for completion of fitness: the teaching of others…….as one really “owns" a body of work when they teach it or share it with others.

I especially enjoyed the chapter on behavior change which describes the stages we all pass through whenever we attempt yet again to change an unhealthy behavior. Then simple strategies for changing behavior guide you from where you are to where you know you are a changed person.

The Right Steps

I was curious to see if I could gain insights and approaches to achieving the benefits of fitness. I was not disappointed with this product. One of the many weights on our healthcare system as most folks may be aware is the lack of attention to our own fitness and well being. Inevitably this leads to problems, many that could be prevented. This book is certainly a step in the right direction to help us. Not only is it comprehensive and wonderfully illustrated but it is easy to follow and well designed.

The book takes you through each phase of the fitness path in the following detail: Overview, Testing and Evaluation, Goals, Cardiorespiratory Exercise, Muscular Strength and Endurance, Flexibility, Balance, Core Strength and Endurance, Nutrition, and Behavior Change. Some of the weight training equipment might be out of the reach of some, by and large their are plenty of simple equipment set ups requiring just a bench, free weights, and dumbbells. This book is an excellent start for those who seriously want to take on the challenge of achieving fitness in their life and is well worth that effort.

Easy to read

Well written. Easy to read. Discover how to build a fitness plan specific to your own needs and desires. Some exercises require minimal equipment, such as a bench. But others require nothing. For example, the wall sit, an excellent exercise. Great color photos show you how to do each exercise. The instructions are clear, easy to grasp.

Era of bad feelings and good results.

in 1789 the U.S. was anarchic and in financial difficulty. How the new constitution would work and if it would survive were far from certain. M. ably tells the story of how the country was formed. Fortunately, the Federalists pushed for a strong central government. Hamilton was, of course, the leading proponent of ideas. As an organizer and plotter he was extremely inept. The book allows the author the leisure to describe those early developments in detail.
among the details is the unfettered vitriol of the press. there were two fox news channels, one for each of the emerging parties. neither valued truth or even its most distant relatives.
the growth of parties was a major factor in improving voter turnout, which was low.
The Federalists turned the paper constitution into a manageable system--and then expired from their own elitism. We can, however, be glad that they had their day. Amateur historians who wish to understand U.S. history will benefit from this book.

The ultimate insider's view of Britain's MI5

Reading "Spycatcher", I was continually struck by this thought: how was it possible for Peter Wright to publish a book which exposes so much of the internal operations of Britain's MI5 domestic intelligence/security service? He names names, describes personalities in often unflattering terms, and details what were surely the most sensitive of investigations undertaken by MI5. What may be MI5's loss is the public's gain, as we get a rare glimpse at the very heart of a (by definition) highly secretive agency, charged with ensuring the security and continuance of one of the Western world's greatest democracies.

Wright is undoubtedly a brilliant man, as are his colleagues (Wright describes how one of them does crossword puzzles completely in his head). Although the book opens with his retirement day, in which he shreds his diaries, he is somehow able to reconstruct the minutest details of operations that span his 20-year career with MI5, from the mid-50s to mid-70s, as well as critical pre-World War II events that he investigated for MI5. Wright is a radio engineer by training and original profession, and he joins MI5 as their first scientist in order to bring the benefits of technology to the agency. As MI5's top scientist, he is immediately charged with carrying out their most sensitive bugging and eavesdropping operations, which indoctrinates him into MI5's most secretive activities. Eventually, he leaves scientific advocacy behind to assume a role hunting down suspected Soviet spies within MI5 itself.

Although Wright has many successes, he is never able to fully prove his most shocking assertion, which is that Roger Hollis, the head of MI5 for many years (and Wright's superior), was a Soviet spy. The circumstantial evidence Wright presents, however, is very convincing. Wright's analysis and the logic he applies are impressive because he not only looks at the various events themselves, but he constantly considers how events would have unfolded differently if his thesis were untrue.

"Spycatcher" is a fascinating book, for many reasons. First of all, it takes the reader deeper within an actual government intelligence agency than almost any spy novel, and it has the added benefit of being true. The case against Hollis, and other spies exposed by Wright and his compatriots at MI5, serves as a warning about the fragility of security agencies: a few well-placed enemy spies can destroy massive amounts of work. Many of these top-level spies recruited by the Soviets were left-wing students at Britain's finest universities (Oxford and Cambridge), which shows how ideology expressed in an academic environment can lead to radical behavior and revolutionary actions. However, spying on potential domestic subversives is not a pleasant task, as Wright himself admits. "Spycatcher" also shows the special relationship between the U.S. and the U.K., which is not without its tensions.

Finally, "Spycatcher" illustrates the need to fight back using many of the tactics of the enemy, however despicable they may be. Intelligence work is not pretty: it involves tapping communications, breaking and entering, planting agents, soliciting defectors (using whatever might best appeal to them), and trying to detect and eliminate the enemy's spies before they do the same to yours. And in the end, the intelligence information received may be completely wrong, either because of the motives of the agents who provided it (who may be double agents), or because it is the product of an enemy disinformation campaign. However, if the U.K. and U.S. had not played the spy game against the Soviets, they would have put the countries at serious risk. Winning the intelligence game is not easy, but this was definitely an important front during the Cold War in Wright's day, and the war on terror today. The Soviets had an active disinformation campaign during the Cold War; in fact, one of the more spectacular assertions of Wright's is that the Cuban missile crisis was a Soviet disinformation exercise to distract attention from their long-range missile development programs. As "Spycatcher" proves, the intelligence game is like a hall or mirrors - you're never sure if you're seeing something real or something which is exactly backwards. But, it is still important to attempt to play the game as best as one can.

Addictive!

This is one of those books that I came to late in the game (It all started with the DVD "Cambridge Spies" last fall.), but after perusing the first page of "Spycatcher", I couldn't put it down for three days! One of the reasons that I waited so long was that various espionage writers have criticized the book for its inaccuracies (So he got the date of Philby's interrogation wrong!). I'm beginning to think that they are suffering from an overdose of sour grapes because Mr. Wright made the New York Times Bestseller List and they did not!

I am actually glad that I read other books such as "My Silent War," "The Philby Files," "Anthony Blunt," "Philby: The Long Road to Moscow," "Crown Jewels," etc. first, because by the time I read "Spycatcher," I was thoroughly familiar with the multifarious cast of characters. However, as much as I enjoyed the other espionage books, "Spycatcher" surpasses them in one respect: it gives details of tradecraft that are impossible in an account of Kim Philby or Anthony Blunt who, by necessity, had to keep silent about the finer particulars of their work in intelligence (whether Soviet or British). Peter Wright lets the reader peek over his shoulder as he installs sophisticated bugs behind convincing false doors at midnight. He also gives the reader a good chuckle when such operations go disastrously awry and floors collapse or cables are cut, and the work has to begin all over again.

The author also writes a wry account of brazen Russian agents importuning numerous passers-by in various London parks in an effort to "turn" them into Soviet assets, until the British police, at Wright's instigation, out-brazen the agents by threatening to arrest them for harassing Her Majesty's subjects. He also informs us of MI5's system of Watchers, who were posted all over London and its environs, and whose chief duty was to tail diplomats and cypher clerks from the Soviet embassy. (A memorable moment occurs when 105 Russians are declared PNG and expelled from Britain in 1971--an event I recall seeing on television).

Peter Wright relates a particularly poignant anecdote of Klop Ustinov (actor Peter's father), who had served British Intelligence so faithfully and effectively (at great peril) throughout World War II, and who was living in penury without a pension until Wright brought the matter to the attention of the director (Wright was cheated out of most of his own promised pension at the end of his career, and Desmond Bristow of MI6 also tells of similar ingratitude on the part of the Intelligence Services in "A Game of Moles.").

As for the allegations about Roger Hollis, the director of MI5, being a Soviet agent, the criticism of this theory usually cites the fact that Hollis never confessed, and therefore the charges are groundless. The same could be said of Kim Philby, who never confessed (despite Nicholas Elliot's claims to the contrary--with the window conveniently open so that the recorded "confession" was inaudible because of the Beirut traffic noises). Philby even wrote an article stating that a spy should never confess, because the case against him had to be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt in order to be prosecuted under British law. Whether Hollis was a Soviet agent or not (Desmond Bristow, who believed that the British intelligence agencies were riddled with Soviet penetration agents echoes Wright's suspicions in "A Game of Moles."), Peter Wright builds an intriguing circumstantial case against him, noting that the leaks to the Russians and the ruined operations stopped after Hollis had retired. Wright suggests that the Intelligence services had no interest in pursuing the matter to the end because of the embarrassment caused by the discoveries that Burgess, Maclean, Philby, Blunt, Cairncross, Blake, et al, were Soviet penetration agents. As far as Wright is concerned, the case against Hollis was not proven but the suspicion remains.

British counterintelligence tradecraft

From the end of WWII until 1965 when Roger Hollis left as head of MI-5, British counterintelligence was almost completely compromised. The Soviets outmaneuvered them continuously with a flood of diplomatic and illegal agents. This was a constant source of embarrassment as people like Kim Philby, Burgess and McLean defected to the USSR. The agents defecting in the opposite direction were frequently clever disinformants sent as ploys creating a "wilderness of mirrors." As former assistant director of MI5 the author was directly responsible for investigating the infiltration and gives a blow by blow account of how morale suffered as one by one potential moles were grilled and either cleared or ousted. Many interesting and authoritative asides keep interest high throughout the work.
