I say 'If it was that easy, why can't people find the information?'So here's all the information you need to get WordPress Multisite running that first time. And as a bonus, all the information is good for WordPress 3.4.

Excellent, fast read

I really enjoyed this book! The book starts out with a great step-by-step howto. It's a short, fast read (maybe an hour) but really seems to cover most of the things that are important, such as caveats and features. It covers step-by-steps like how to make plugins apply across your entire network or just individual sites, and even how to configure Apache .htaccess. It also includes some great links to some plugins that make some things a lot easier! Also, it supports the latest version of 3.4, which is critically important since it's changed so much in recent versions. (Note: multisite replaces WPMU/WordPress MultiUser edition and is now included in WordPress, and this e-book completely covers that in detail.)
Wishes: it was a little hard to follow without sitting next to your computer. If you're out and about, expect to be trying to remember where you saw that screen or option. A little bit more depth would be good, especially in advanced topics like extracting a site from Multisite, the risks and caveats of Multisite (like that it's hard to separate out a site and there's no simple way to do it short of lots of database dumping), and things like wp-config hacks. Would love to see a lot more detail in things like the domain mapping plugin, perhaps nginx configuration for multi-site, and things to speed up delivery of files that are being delivered in multisite (since they're all going through a PHP file.) A reference appendix for the various directories, wp-config multisite settings, and configuration screens would be a great addition, too.
This book definitely covers a lot of things that I discovered myself only by accident and even with the above wishlist, it's highly recommended!!

Not as helpful as I would have liked

I think the author did a great job at walking the reader though whether or not they should use multisite. However, when it came to installing and setting up multisite, I think they did a poor job at describing what needed to be done, or even what the differences in set up were.

Don't spend the money

Sadly not at the level of detail that I would have liked, got just as much from publicly available documentation. The key to Multisite is not installing it and getting it running - it is ALL about migrating sites into Multisite and the use of WP provided Export/Import is so fraught with issues and errors as to be totally useless. The author discussed none of this and this is the real issue with Multisite.
